WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE HERTS PREMIER LEAGUE


The Herts Premier League, or HPL as it commonly known, is a local basketball league which operates in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

Membership of the league is open to any mens team based in Herts or a neighbouring county, subject to certain criteria and approval from existing League clubs. There are currenly 13 participating clubs, some of which have teams:

Aylesbury Dux, Bedford Bulls (2 teams), Cambridge Cats, Cambridge Cougars, Genting Raiders, Harlow Hawks (2 teams), Hatfield Magic, Hertfordshire Warriors (2 teams), Luton Fliers, Michaelians, North Herts Knights, Stevenage Scorpions (2 teams) and Ware Jokers/Wolves (2 teams).

The league runs from September to April or May each year. As well as the league competition which runs on a home and away basis, there is also usually at least one cup competition held each season as well as a pre-season tournament which all clubs are invited to attend. All games are played under standard FIBA and England Basketball rules, and all clubs and individuals must be registered with England Basketball before taking part in any match. Neutral and qualified officials are used for each match.

The League has a longstanding history and was in the past organised by the Hertfordshire Basketball Association (HBA). Although now acting as a seperate entity, the league stiill affiliates to the HBA.
